About the Antenatal Profile
The antenatal profile includes the routine tests at the start of pregnancy: blood count, blood group and Rh factor, fasting sugar, urine examination and infection screening as advised. It checks for anaemia, blood group incompatibility, diabetes and infections that can affect you and the baby.
Symptoms and situations where this test helps
- Confirmed pregnancy, ideally in the first trimester
- Planning delivery and wanting a complete early check
- Rh-negative blood group or past pregnancy complications
- Women with diabetes, thyroid disease or high blood pressure
Understanding your results
Low haemoglobin is common and treatable. If you are Rh-negative, your doctor plans anti-D protection. Abnormal sugar or urine findings need early attention. Results guide supplements, diet and the schedule of follow-up scans.
