About the Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)
The thyroid profile (T3, T4 and TSH) is the standard test for thyroid disorders. TSH is the most sensitive marker. It is raised in an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and low in an overactive one (hyperthyroidism). The test is used for diagnosis and to adjust thyroid medicine doses.

Understanding your results
A high TSH with low T4 suggests hypothyroidism; a low TSH with high T3 or T4 suggests hyperthyroidism. Borderline values may need a repeat test. Biotin supplements can falsely alter results, so tell us if you take them.
