About the Fatigue Profile
The fatigue profile checks the common medical causes of constant tiredness: anaemia, thyroid problems, vitamin D and B12 deficiency, low ferritin and high blood sugar. It helps separate a medical cause from stress, sleep or lifestyle factors.
Symptoms and situations where this test helps
- Feeling tired all the time despite enough sleep
- Low energy, poor concentration or mood changes
- Hair fall, weight change or feeling cold
- Pale skin or breathlessness on mild effort
Understanding your results
Low haemoglobin or ferritin suggests iron deficiency. A high TSH suggests an underactive thyroid. Low vitamin D or B12 are very common. If all results are normal, your doctor will look at sleep, stress and other causes.
What your doctor may advise next
Your doctor may treat the deficiency found and advise further tests such as sleep study if tiredness continues.
