About the Male Infertility Profile
The male infertility profile combines semen analysis with testosterone, FSH, LH and prolactin. Semen analysis shows sperm count, movement and shape, while the hormones show whether the testicles and pituitary are working normally.
Symptoms and situations where this test helps
- Trying to conceive for a year without success
- Previous testicular injury, infection, mumps or surgery
- Low sex drive, erectile problems or small testicles
- Diabetes, varicocele or long-term medicine use
Understanding your results
Low sperm count, poor motility or abnormal shape reduce fertility. High FSH suggests testicular failure, low testosterone with low LH points to a pituitary cause. Semen results vary between samples, so a repeat test is common.
What your doctor may advise next
Your doctor or urologist may advise a repeat semen analysis, a scrotal ultrasound, genetic tests or treatment.
